How Jess Chose Tani to be her Mommy

This is a bed-time story of how Jess chose her mom over all others - with inputs from Jess while she was a toddler.

Many many moons ago, Jess used to live in Ating-a--the Heavens, with other souls and Taibang Mapu, the Creator of the Universe. At that time, Jess had another name, but we'll go with Jess for the sake of the story.

As Jess and Taibang Mapu (TM) looked down to Malem, the Earth, all aglow with beautiful lights, Taibang Mapu pointed down and said to Jess - "Would you like to go to live on Malem for some time?"

Jess - "Yes. But where on Earth?"

TM showed her a picture of igloos and polar bears.

TM - How about here? It's one of my favorite places - so pure and pristine, and there are Inuits and fish and penguins and polar bears. And of course, the Northern Lights!

Jess - It's beautiful, TM! I fancy visiting here to see the Northern Lights. But why is it so dark even at noon?

TM - That's because in this land, you have 6 months of night and 6 months of day.

Jess - Oh I see. It's beautiful! Somehow though, I don't fancy living in a land with 6 months of night and 6 months of day, and maybe I'd like a little more of the sun...

TM  waves once in space and shows Jess vast grasslands with giraffes, zebras, antelopes, cheetahs running free. On another side, there are elephants at a watering hole and a pride of lions relaxing in the African sun.

TM - Maybe you'd like this place?

Jess - Oh wow! I love it. Maybe I'd like to visit here some day. Could we see some places a little mountainous, maybe?

So TM shows Jess various mountains, and valleys, but Jess somehow doesn't feel like being born in all those wonderful places. Then TM shows Jess cities of the world, while Jess has a hard time choosing which of those wonderful places to be born at. Then Jess has an idea - why not look for Mommy first?

Jess - TM, how will I recognize my Mommy?

TM - Oh, as you view a place you like, you will begin to see colors moving about. These are the colours of the thawai - souls, living on Malem. I'd probably choose one of these, one that sparks joy in you.

Jess smiled and began viewing Malem from all 360 degrees, as one would spin a globe and view the various places on it. And then something caught Jess's eye while glossing over the land of Meitrabak. It was a purple-pink glow, coming from the area once called Yumphal. It was a female Meitei human, one who had, as a little girl, wished for a curly-haired ball of mischief to be her offspring. Jess really liked the idea of being a curly haired ball of mischief. And Yumphal was just the perfect place to be born, surrounded by lofty hills and blessed with a pleasant climate, clean air and beautiful souls residing there. The pink-purple Meitei human smiled at her new husband with love and he smiled back. When this happened, there was a burst of pinkish-reddish-orangish-golden glow about the two of them. And it made Jess feel so good, so happy. And Jess decided, here's my Mommy and Daddy.

Jess - TM, I think I am ready to go to Malem! Tani and her mate are waiting for me - a curly haired ball of mischief who's also a bundle of joy! And Jess smiled wide.

Taibang Mapu too smiled and agreed it was good. And that's how Jess chose Tani to be her mommy.
